Learning Tagalog

Yes, I am having a hard time teaching my youngest daughter to understand Tagalog or speak our mother tongue. I guess it is my fault because I let her speak in English when she was a little and did not give any attention that somehow it can affect her study. I just realized it now when I transferred her to this school.

Unlike in her previous school, the teachers in Filipino will just translate the question during the exam to her. However, with this school since it is a standard school, they will not adjust for their students. They need to understand and at least answer it in Tagalog the best that they can. My youngest daughter was not able to understand anything on their essay question and so she wrote, “I could not understand the question”. When I learned about it, I was so pissed since we did our best to study the night before. She was able to answer with multiple choice and fill in the blank except the essay and their exam is almost essay.

Thus, last 2 nights we were doing extra effort with it. I let her read “Ang pagdating ni Magellan sa Pilipinas”. Of course, since she could not understand every word of it, she resisted everything. I explained but it was not enough, I need help! I already speak Tagalog to her, there are words that she was able to understand but still could not speak to it.

I research online what are the best ways to teach the kids in speaking Tagalog and I was able to find this video:

I’ll be checking this one later, I might be downloading some tutorial in you tube. I hope this could help.

About The Tooth Fairy

It was Mariel’s birthday celebration that we went out to eat at Vikings. Mariel was free since it is her birth month as long as there will be four of us to pay for the buffet. While they were still enjoying their food, Faith blurted out her opinion about Tooth Fairy. My apology to those who believe in Tooth Fairy, spare my youngest, she is just being opinionated.

Idle And Being Busy

My eldest daughter already started their summer vacation, she busy herself now with playing games on her cellphone. She went out sometimes with her friends, just like last Saturday she missed swimming a lot so she ask me if I can give her some money so she can swim in a nearby subdivision. I gave her some after we got home from grocery shopping. Good thing, she decided not to transfer school at all, she would transfer when she finish her 12th grade. I can’t believe my eldest daughter will be in college soon. She is still contemplating with taking up engineering or something else.

While my eldest is just being idle at home, Faith still has some things to be done at school. Their vacation will start on May 1st. They are yet reviewing their exam this month. But today with skipped school aside me,¬†not feeling well, she had a diarrhea¬†yesterday and last night she vomit a number of times, good thing I decided to be absent from work, I was able to attend to her even though I was not feeling good. I guess my adrenalin rushes when I learned she vomited in the bathroom, I did not feel any pain in my back when attending her but when she’s done, the pain started again. Right now, she’s not vomiting at all, but she skipped school so I can monitor her. Hopefully, the pain that I am feeling in my back would also go away.

Done With The Re-Evaluation

Faith is diagnosed for ADHD when she was in kinder. Don’t feel bad about it, my daughter is okay, we just need to correct her behavior so she can focus more.

So our evaluation just done last Friday, I really thought that we can transfer her already in a big school, the school near us but I was wrong because she still need to improve more, she still can’t focus, she talks a lot even while completing her task, she’s very impulsive and distracted.

Her Math evaluation for school related skills was yet in Grade 3 and she’s already in Grade 4. She whined when she have to answer the Math problem.

But with Science and Reading comprehension, she is so advanced for it.

The Doctor suggested for a Math Tutorial and a Behavioral Therapy.

I was thinking to continue her Kumon in Math and won’t do a Behavioral Therapy that if I will stop working. To stop working is to sacrifice for some extra stuff. If I stop working, our outside activity like eating in a restaurant, or Jollibee or McDonalds will be limited. We need to budget a lot with foods to eat at home, allowances, and transportation, which means no Taxi even all the Jeepneys are full.

I know that if I am working I can provide them all the stuffs, especially Mj will be in college soon. I can help big time with our expenses at home. But I really have to think about this, I also don’t want to compromise the things that my kid’s needs especially with their school and education.
